Experience this blissful area with swaying hammocks in the sea breeze and enjoy your favorite drink from the nearby bar as your cares simply melt away while you plan your next exciting day. Carnival Elation (formerly Elation) is a Fantasy-class cruise ship operated by Carnival Cruise Line. Carnival's Excel Class ships, for instance, have the only roller coasters at sea onboard. Though it cost an extra $15, it's an experience I look back on fondly!

I have no idea what people without smartphones do to reserve their dinner time. Once your table is ready, you have ten minutes to check in. I think this is the only real complaint in this Carnival Elation Review. It would have been nice to have free coffee and water stations at the bar on Deck 7 for convenient morning coffee for those of us with lower deck cabins.
Carnival Elation Departure Ports
So on that note, there’s no time like the present to book your cruise, pack those bags, and let your imagination run wild. No conversation on an exciting cruise to The Bahamas is complete without at least a few words on the incredible array of dining options. As you might have guessed, Carnival Elation® has something delicious for even the finickiest of eaters. In other words, there’s fantastic food for everyone in the family. Request a favorite tune, show off your pipes, or just kick back with a drink at Piano Bar. Whether you want to sing along with a classic led by our friendly piano player, or just blend into the background in a comfy seat, Piano Bar is fun in its purest form.

Even on the nicest days, I've never had to circle the deck like a hawk waiting for a seat to open up. Furthermore, the selection of complimentary dining venues was noticeably smaller in comparison to newer ships. Onboard Carnival Elation, there was the buffet, which was home to Pizza Pirate and Carnival Deli; Guy's Burger Joint; BlueIguana Cantina; and, of course, the dining room.
These suites come with upgraded amenities, but do not include priority boarding or other perks. There also are two smaller racing slides for the little kids. While this spot is popular every day, it's especially crowded on sea days.

I really liked this layout, because food is prepared to order at each of these places. And, unlike many ships, we didn’t encounter super long lines at any of the casual dining areas or the buffet. Carnival Elation offers a few different complimentary dining options.

So join us as we walk you through just a few of those memorable moments that await you with this Ultimate Guide to Carnival Elation® . But be forewarned — once you spend a few minutes reading what our amazing cruise ship has to offer, you’ll be itching to set your GPS for Jacksonville or Port Canaveral and climb onboard. The vast majority of passengers on Carnival Elation come from the United States and Canada, with ages typically falling between 25 and 60.
The Carnival Elation Deck Plan Includes Eight Cabin Categories and 10 Dining Options
Unfortunately, the other options aren’t all that plentiful. Your paid options include Bonsai Sushi Express for fast sushi bites and JavaBlue Café for your caffeine fix. There’s also The Chef’s Table, a chef-led dining experience for a limited number of cruisers, and room service. The 2017 dry dock even added a new deck to the ship, with suites and a few scenic staterooms. The On Carnival ships, the captain tends to be kind of a big deal — almost a celebrity.
There’s relaxation, and then there’s relaxation Carnival-style, and we’re sure you’ll appreciate the difference. Prepare to pamper yourself at Spa Carnival™, a full-service spa that offers hot stone massages, aromatherapy, full-body wraps, and a host of other beauty and wellness therapies. What do you get when you cross endless Caribbean views with a bonafide, first-class water park? WaterWorks is what you get, filled with slippery slides, twisting tubes, and speed to spare as you get drenched in equal parts water and fun. From toddlers to grandparents and everyone in between, WaterWorks is excitement that will drench you to the bone as you sail the Caribbean.
Then, for those under that age group, all the way down to toddlers aged 2, there’s the Camp Ocean children’s club, with crafts, games, educational activities, and toys geared toward specific age groups. Part dining experience, part entertainment, The Seuss at Sea program is a favorite for families with small children. Kids can dine on green eggs and ham alongside notable Seuss characters, participate in a Seuss parade and join in on other fun activities. In the 2010s, it offered Western Caribbean itineraries from both Alabama and New Orleans, before moving on to Florida and cruises to the Bahamas. Since, the ship has mostly stayed in the same area, sailing the Caribbean from various homeports in the Sunshine State. In addition to being on the older side, the ship is also on the smaller side — at least in comparison to most modern cruise ships.
On Carnival Elation®, Playlist Productions™ brings that to your cruise vacation, where incredible dancers and singers immerse you in an experience that only the best musicals can provide. It’s a full-blown production that rivals the best you’ve seen, just while cruising your way to a tropical paradise. As for the age, if your focus is on the fun you can have and the experiences you share, you won’t mind the slightly outdated décor. In short, so long as you’re not prioritizing experiencing only the biggest, best and flashiest in cruising, you’ll likely find something to enjoy about Carnival Elation.
During the refurbishment, aft on Deck 9/Promenade (in the space previously occupied by the Cole Porter lounge) were added 30 new staterooms and the Alchemy Bar. The new cabins' modules were delivered by ALMACO (drydocking project's management company). At more than 25 years old, Carnival Elation is admittedly one of the older cruise ships you could pick for an upcoming vacation. The Fantasy-class ship has lived a long life, delivering classic Carnival fun to families, and it’s still going to this day. Because this is the bar where you call the shots… and the tunes.
The two sister ships are the only Fantasy-class ships still in operation. The older Fantasy-class ships, the first of which entered service in 1990, with Carnival Fantasy in the lead, have all been retired, with most entering retirement in 2020 or 2022. All retired Fantasy-class ships have been sold for scrap. A trip to the salon is an opportunity to relax, to chat with others, to focus on yourself.
Do note, while the above cabins do offer a lot to love, such as a nice amount of floor space, and large balconies, for all their upkeep, the décor is a reminder of the ship’s age. That said, if you want just a little more by way of luxury, you can find it, to a degree, with a suite. Starting with the interior staterooms, all offer a pretty decent amount of space for an interior room, and they don’t feel boxy or closed in. Porthole interior rooms, with their ample lighting, corner set televisions and desk space, seem particularly roomy. The interior upper and lower staterooms are a good pick for individual, solo travelers, as they offer a single bed, but plenty of floor space.
Sample services include hot stone massages, seaweed wraps with massage and deep-cleansing facials. The spa also offers men’s services like the Elemis Pro-Collagen Grooming Treatment with Shave and the Elemis Skin IQ Facial. There’s also a medi-spa offering cosmetic services, including dermal filler and wrinkle treatments. A cruise onboard Carnival Elation® is nothing but pure fun every moment you spend on the ship.
Carnival Elation will not waste time to convince you as she is a ship where "participation" does make the experience. There are a lot of spots for a drink, from the laid back Gatsby’s Great Bar to the jumping Jekyll and even Hyde Dance Club to the always-swinging Duke’s Piano Bar. The 2200-passenger ship Carnival Elation was floated out on January 4, 1998. Elation was retrofitted with part of Carnival's "Evolutions of Fun" upgrades. The Serenity adults-only area was installed, but not the WaterWorks park. Carnival Elation also had 28 balconies installed, all on Deck 6.
